My now deceased father in law, in the days of black n white TV ads,

used to say, "if they HAVE to advertise...........it cant be much good!"

How many of us have seen something advertised on the telly, and thought "Oh, I must have that"? Not many, I'll wager.

The adverts selling funeral costs really are scare mongering

My hubbies funeral was well under the costs they say and he had a very nice send off with a large family gathering to say their farewells

Like the Flash ad, the one with the
dog singing and asking where has all the mud gone :-D

If they are not irrelevant or in bad taste then they tell porkies such as claiming you could save silly amounts of money. They get around this by using words such as 'could' or 'up to'.

The funeral ones claiming it will cost over £7,000 are downright lies. The typical cost of a basic cremation is less than half that.

It is impossible to nourish hair - it is dead.

Half price sales are another one, double glazing and oak furniture for example. Even worse the furniture companies so called 'events' where the after event price will supposedly go up to some silly figure. No one in their right mind would even contemplate buying at the 'full price'

The one with the idiots in the advert co sitting round the table trying to come up with an idea says it all. It is probably exactly how it is in real life....!

The advertising authority is a waste of space too. They claim to monitor the media but in practice, only appear to act if someone complains.

I think it's only JD if someone actually buys something courtesy of an advertisement! I never have! My two granddaughters aged 16 and 13 think the men in shorts are just plain embarrassing, and yukky! Is it supposed to be amusing?!! Oh right!!!

I'm sick of all the charity ads.

And the pay for your funeral ones.

Sharron

Sharron Report 23 Sep 2016 10:44

Not keen on the group of builders and men in shorts but I do like the ones where they just have one of each or one on his own.

That silly cow who shouts'99 calories!'after eating a small pot of over priced and coloured yoghurt with meringues in it for some unexplained reason.

I just love that koala that hi-jacks the lorry.

Let's face it. Most of us on here have older teenage or adult children. What we find distasteful could be hilarious to the younger age group. Our tastes are different.

We may dislike the ads, but we're talking about them, aren't we? Job done.

Simple adverts work well.
