Do you know, someone in a Zafira stopped and asked me directions today.
I could have turned around and said either:
'I don't drive so won't give you directions, even though I know the way', or
'Why are you still driving a cr*p car that could catch fire at any minute'.

As they actually hadn't asked my opinion on their car, I didn't give it.
I may not drive, but I DID give directions a car could follow, and not directions for a pedestrian.

Had I not wanted to give directions, I would have just said 'Sorry, I can't.'

That's called answering a question when asked one, not just giving a useless opinion when not asked for one.
The most useless 'opinion' is that offered as though it's fact.

I'm so pleased you can stop crying now, Prickly. :-D

I wish I could help you, but I'm still on the 'old' system, whatever that may be, with a huge PC, but it serves my purpose. (I actually gave my laptop to a daughter 'cos I never used it) Likewise, I still do my dishes by hand, don't possess a tumble dryer, and have an ancient pre 'smartphone' mobile.
All my own choices, no matter how antiquarian they may appear to some, but, amazingly, I can still live a 'full' life. I have absolutely no need or wish to look on the interned whilst out shopping or walking. :-D :-D :-D :-D

if you really must use IE11 with Ancestry then try this:

https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/itpro/internet-explorer/ie11-deploy-guide/missing-the-compatibility-view-button

but Microsoft (who created IE) do not recommend its ongoing use.
Edge was created from scratch as IE was too broken to fix.
