Daylight saving time is pretty well universal inc Portugal which has reverted to GMT rather than CET as used in next door Spain. It only appears to be nonsense if you are extremely thick.

It is true that the EU led the movement to standardise the days for changing the clocks in Europe. The main driving force was the airlines.

England & Wales would benefit no end by moving to CET. One day they will. It has already been tried 1940-1947 and 1968-1971. As posted the main objectors were the Scots and back bench MPs. Everybody else was pleased with the extra daylight and overall road accidents were sharply reduced.

An extra 2 hours of real time contact with Europe would help business no end. 'cos of the GMT nonsense I have to be available from 8am :-(

Once we are out of the EU we can stop this nonsense of changing the clocks twice a year, although I believe Portugal doesn't do DST?
Some of our timepieces are too complicated to change, so they stay on whatever side they happen to be.

AND ........

if you have to make phone contact with anyone in the US or Canada for the next week, PLEASE remember that our clocks have not yet gone back.

They go back next weekend

we are only between 3 to 7 hours behind you at the moment, depending on where we live east to west.

Lol Allan

Just change the clocks that aren't selfchanging, before you go to bed and enjoy the extra hour!
