Some how I can't seem to get my arse in gear and motivate myself to hoover the house and make up the spare bed with it's clean linen

I really do intend to do things every day but I sit around in the morning and have to tell myself to get showered and dressed . I feel depressed but guilty that I put off each day what I think needs to be done

I hate being in the house on my own . I do love my home and would be defensive if anyone said I wasn't keeping up with its upkeep .
Dont get me wrong it's clean and ok but it's still empty to me as I sit in oh armchair and wallow

Guess it's all part of finding your self and moving on

Doesn't help that yesterday I had to have tooth out which coincided with this time last year having a tooth out the same time when I had an tooth abscess when hubby was so ill and had passed away the week earlier

You think you are coping but maybe you aren't really

I cant say anything about being alone, but this time of year is so dismal.

Since the clocks went back at the weekend, I am ready to close the curtains and make it cosy for the evening, then I realise it is only mid afternoon

Yes I am sure it is partly the weather Shirley, Just listen to your body and do things when you really feel like doing them, is there anywhere local where you can pop out to a cafe for a coffee where you are among people? Even if you are on your own being in the noise of 'chatter' might perk you up. It all takes time I'm sure, four steps forward and two back occasionally. Good job you have us to cheer you up. :-) :-) <3 <3

Well I have joined the local area group of the U3A and they have a coffee morning every Tuesday morning at the local Dobies garden centre
I try to go every week for a natter . Folks there are very chatty and friendly

I did go this week as grandson has gone home at the weekend to go back to school on monday

Still this week I have felt down with no motivation to get going .

Had a lovely chat this morning at the chiropractors with my practitioner and passed the time of day with OH practioner who was surprised how the time had gone since he saw OH .

It's all this week I have floundered , maybe being alone at home again has kicked in

It's all a bit where am I and where is the motivation

Probably just feeling down at the mo

I can identify with you .Shirley.There are days when I feel like that,,,,and I think it is our generation that if we don't accomplish something in the day we can feel guilty...and we shouldn't.
I still go to a carers meet on tues morning and I got into playing piano again with a little group of oldies, but we are all old and 2 of them are 84 so wonder how much longer we can do it.
Wish I lived nearer to you and we could go to a show or something and cheer us up..

how nice of you Brenda ,I appreciate that <3

i am trying to get out but its trying to find groups that are of interest to me .

My daughter has suggested volunteering work but at the mo i a m hesitant as i wouldn't want to let anyone down

i feel you need a long term commitment as it wouldn't be fair to start something and then back out

Shirley, when my OH went into care in 2009 I didnt want to go to choir any more as I didnt fancy coming home to a dark, empty house, but I knew I needed some sort of social activity since I live alone in the country, so I volunteered at a local op shop. I enjoy it very much, although I am having a lot of problems with my hearing aids, but you meet lots of people in the shop and it is good to know you are helping others. We arent paid, but that is not what I was looking for anyway, and our boss is very good if I cant get in, or need to leave early. However, take time to think about such things, talk to some of the volunteers in your local shops. Best wishes to you. (My OH died 2 years ago and I am moving on with my life).

Well I did manage to get motivated and hoovered upstairs and clean the bathroom and hovered the stairs

Was intending to do downstairs today but got sidetracked . I did sweep up the patio of leaves cos the pear tree is dropping fruit and leaves .

It then started to rain !!!!

Harold the tortoise seems to have accepted he needs to hibernate ,he is in his house in straw but needs to be bedded down so tomorrow. Weather permitting I will get him all snug and settled in insulation and & hay so he can sleep safely.

He is over 50 years old so each safe year he hibernates is a relief we have had him since 1968. Daughters pet who was left at home when she married .

Well done Shirley, a bit at a time is good, altho I would like a pic of you hovering the stairs lol

Hope Harold settles down well and survives winter, especially if it's as cold as predicted. Can you not get someone to pick up the fruit, so it doesn't make a big mess as it rots? I wouldn't want to see you slip

Take care

Hovered !!! Lol bee iPad did its predictive text again

I do pick up the fruit and put it in a garden bucket every time I go up the path .

Grandson was here for two weeks and he did a good job of picking up . He knows I have a couple of falls so worried I would slip on them.

Somehow some had bounced down into the patio but they swept up with the leaves .

This morning it's windy and heh the patio needs sweeping again :-(
