Sharron

Sharron Report 8 Nov 2016 18:57

Yesterday, for some illogical reason, we went to Redruth to buy some patchwork fabric.

We came back today, having stayed in a pub last night.

Travelling that far does make you feel your aches and pains doesn't it. It never used to!

The bit I am particularly happy about is, having avoided driving as much as possible for the last couple of years, I drove from Axminster to Redruth yesterday and Exeter to Bridport today.

Another little bit of myself has come back.

Well done Sharron, that was quite a long way to go for fabric!

I agree with Ann - a long way to go for fabric! How was the pub?

Oh - and very well done :-D :-D

I have to find a reason to go anywhere and the shop was the best one I could find on the internet. We did go to Colne but I won't be going there again.

The place in Redruth is called 'The Sewing Studo' and they were lovely, very friendly and helpful.

The pub was the Kings Head in Chacewater and it is one of the most efficiently run pubs I have seen and the best kept together.

It was good to have a night away but I really wanted to get back here and the bed, which was extremely comfortable, was not my bed.

I'm the same when I go away, which is why I never have more than a week away.
I like to go away occasionally, though, as it makes me appreciate home when I return :-D

Glad the pub was okay :-D :-D

Good for you Sharron, driving any distance, especially if an unknown area, is a real achievement. Staying over somewhere is always a gamble but it's interesting to try places.

We are off to Chelmsford this weekend and stay at the same Best Western hotel each visit (to family), so much so that they know which room we like and recognise my voice on the phone.

I think you are doing well with rediscovering Sharron, give yourself a pat on the back, oh and enjoy the patchworking

well done, Sharron!

Did you actually buy some fabric??

Sharron

Sharron Report 9 Nov 2016 12:37

Oh yes indeed. I did spend considerably too much money on fabric.

I couldn't even do that seamlessly. On the way out, I picked up the cash card for the account that the rent comes out of and the credit card and was most alarmed to find that the credit card would not accept the pin. Why do credit cards have to look so much like debit cards, especially the ones I never use and have long forgotten the pin to?

Because I know my propensity to behave like a brat in a toy shop, I made my selection on the internet and wrote it all down. A very kind assistant took my list and made my selection as well as three other packs I am not to see because they are Christmas presents. It saves people thinking of something that I probably don't want and they can take them and wrap them so I have something to unwrap.

Even with all my precautions, I still bought a couple of lucky dip scrap bags.

Do you live in Axminster Sharron? I used o camp in the site behind the Harbour Inn in Axmouth. It is sadly full up with caravans now, and not as it used to be. I have walked the landslip from Axmouth to Lyme Regis a couple of times, but I understand that the undercliff is now closed to walkers due to further slips.

No Bob, I live near Chichester but that was my bit of the journey.

We stopped at a cafe there.
