seems like the sister is the best bet for info ,but if she is keeping quiet for the mums sake then you are at a stalemate for the moment |

My husbands mum told him after his dad had passed away saying she didn't want to keep it secret anymore as he wasn't here. We know child support was paid and the lady actually went to school with his dads sister but the sister is also keeping names quiet. The mother of the child wasn't married at the time to our knowledge.x |

If the father isn't named on the birth cert then you have very little chance of finding any info I,m afraid |

Do you know if the mother was unmarried or married to someone else when she gave birth? |

was it a common-law relationship, or did your father-i-l actually marry the child's mother, even though she was not registered under his name? |

If she wasn't registered under your father-in-law's surname then unfortunately I don't think there is any way anyone on here can help to find her. You would need to know the child's mother's name, so it would only be someone who knew your father-in-law well who might be able to help. |

My husband has a sister from his fathers previous relationship, only known details are that her birth was around 1972 in Prescot, Merseyside. Name possibly Susan, she wasn't registered under his fathers name. |
