Good morning everyone.

This is a day of joy as well as sorrow, a day of solemn thought, a day to remember with gratitude those who sacrificed their all so we can live to enjoy what life has to offer us. It is a day to think how many families were and are devastated by the effects of armed conflict, a day to reflect on rows of white crosses in cemeteries around the world or those lying in unmarked waters and unknown graves.

Not just another Friday is it?

I too will be remembering all my family members who died and served in the Armed Forces today. A sad but proud day for us all.

Yes a day to remember, remembering my lovely grandad who each year on Remembrance Day wore his medals with pride and attended the nearby service without fail along with his friends.

I have a photo of about 10 of them all waiting for the bus to ferry them to the service in the next town...standing proud.

Off to the shops for some weekend shopping.

Apart from the 100 or so faithful & regular attendees at our local ceremony this morning, there seemed to be a lack of respect nearby by the steady flow of traffic frustratingly held-up a little by some very noisy delivery vehicles.

Is it not possible just to stand still for the quarter hour or so in the centre of a small provincial town?
