I popped to my neighbours this morning to see how they both were, in their 80's. He always struck me as a rather well spoken man and he told me that he was growing up in a very rough part of Bristol with a very broad West Country accent and was evacuated in 1941 to a big house of farmer landowners, He copied the accent of the young daughter and went to school and by the time the war was over he was a changed young lad who wanted to do well for himself. |
