My daughter worked in the theatre of a maternity unit, though she's not a midwife (and now can't afford the fees to become one).
She also ran a breast feeding clinic while she was there.
Now she's a health visitor for new mums.
She's horrified when I tell her about the regime I went through when she was born.
Things have changed over the past 30 years - hopefully for the better!
As for not touching mums to be.......?
I know, in the breast feeding clinic, she had fake boobs to show the mothers what to do, but quite often used her own!! :-S :-S :-D

Hello Carol

Hope life is good with you.

I have only ever been involved in the birth of puppies........so no help to you i'm afraid.

I boiled the scissors, forgetting that the handles were plastic......the plastic melted down the side of the saucepan...........Ooops!!! :-D

Hope all goes well with the new arrival.......do let us know.

<3 :-D <3

Just a concerned Great Granny to be.

Things seem to have changed in the last 30 years. Technology seems to have taken over & midwives are not allowed to touch mums to be!
