Coffee Ice-Cream

What would you eat with it?

I will tell you why I am asking, are you sitting comfortably?

Years ago we went on a ferry and I bought one of those liqueurs that are in two, half cream and half coffee. Of course, this was opened, two glasses taken and the rest put in the cupboard where the cream part slowly congealed. The coffee bit is sitting in the fridge where it has been for quite a long time.

In the summer I made some ice-cream, well probably kulfi really, to use up some raspberries. You just beat up a pint of double cream with a tin of condensed milk until it is really very thick with whatever you want to put in it, which in this case was sieved raspberries, and freeze it.

The ice-cream does freeze very solid and needs to be left to thaw out a bit before you serve it.

I wondered if I might try making coffee ice-cream with the liqueur because it would not freeze to the same degree as fruit but I really can't think of what we would eat with it.

Any ideas?

I would probably go for Scottish tablet or shortbread

Well, yes, I am a member of Pinterest but I have never even looked on it. Can't even remember how or why I joined!

Generally ice-cream is something I dollop up next to a bit of pie or something. Coffee would have to be sort of special wouldn't it? You would have to have it with a tuille, whatever that might be!

coffee icecream would probably be good with sticky toffee pudding, but then anything would.

Coffee icecream on its own with a dollop of clotted cream and a wafer biscuit.

Coffee icecream goes well with chocolate cake and walnuts.

Then it would stay in the freezer and take up room wouldn't it?!

To be honest, it would not be my first ,or even second, choice but I have this drop of coffee liqueur taking up space in the fridge and it is expensive stuff so I don't want to throw it away so ice-cream was the only thing I could think of to do to use it up.

How about starting from scratch and making Tiramisu? You might have to fiddle with the recipe a bit.

If you decide on just the coffee icecream, it would go well with a dairy version. A scoop of both.
How about with a walnut cake or walnut flavoured biscuits.

I had to look up tuille, as I thought it was a sort of netting, and am quite aware of the 'stuff' now served in 'up market' restaurants, so wouldn't put it past them..

But netting is tulle. :-D :-D :-D

Can you guess, I'm more of a 'sewing' person than a 'baking' one?
