RIP, Greg. A very sad year for music. :-(

RIP.

We were lucky to see ELP perform twice in Liverpool back in the '70's. Brilliant stuff.

We also have a copy of Schzoid man on disc - part of a compilation of up and coming bands no one had really heard of at the time such as Fairport Convention, Jethro Tull, Free, Mott the Hoople.....!

Geo Chkiantz, was producer of "King Crimson" and is a mate. Greg Lake played bass on the album. I bought my first ELP album back in 1970 and still play it ... the vinyl (pre oil crisis) is thick n heavy. Greg is a sad loss he still had so much music.

If you love progressive rock the best way to remember Greg is to play it up loud.

We saw King Crimson at Liverpool Uni Students Union, but it was a short while after Greg had left. You went with a cushion to sit on and a couple of bottles of Newcastle Brown.

KC was one of the first smallish live bands to have everything miked up with through a mixer at the back of the hall. The sound quality was incredible for the time. For most of the set everyone sat and clapped politely but when the intro to Schizoid started the whole place erupted.
