Seems we all have worms

We have a worm as well, it just not as famous as yours.

It lives in the well at Lyminster church near Arundel.

You're right Elizabeth, it is the North East.

It is a Durham folk song.

Lambton is just out of Chester-le-Street on the road toward the coast, before one reaches Shiney Row, Penshaw and the A19.

Lambton Castle was the family home of Lucinda Lambton's family. At one stage there was a lion park there too.

The song has been around for well over a century, and probably longer.

Good morning Elizabeth and Robert, I'd say it's Tyneside.
Alan Price recorded it in the sixties

Perhaps I should have said "Northeast" or "Geordie"! Further north we have the Laidley Worm of course.

As a Jock living in Geordieland, I always enjoy listening to Georgie songs.

Is the Lambton Worm a Geordie song or is it too far South?

That's the Lambton Worm, essential Northumberland folk history!
Edit - see youtube explained earlier

Of course, you are absolutely correct, again.
As if I say otherwise to that wee bum :)
Interesting dialect and wonderful song.
Can't see Catherine Jenkins singing it :-D
