Tim Baron is not a man in the shadows kind of guy he is very upfront in yourface sort of person who tends to have all his bases covered. As such he was quite the enfant terrible at Brussels and very effective in Moscow. As a result he got quite a lot of press coverage but not in the vox pop.

In any case unlike the dimwits currently running brexit he will not be ceding anything to Barnier's merry men. He is the real deal.

So long as May accepts what he tells her we might just get a deal. OTOH if May & Co just go on throwing their non existent weight around and displaying their ignorance we won't and Baron won't hesitate to walk away too.

I'd never heard of him, either, Ron, but I suppose unless they are ne'er do wells, we don't usually hear about Ambassadors.

The printed press whether in trad form or online is a good place for studying recent history but a poor choice for news. That's why they have such a hard time getting people to pay for what is yesterday's news at best. It is also poorly researched as you have discovered with the Daily Blue.

Well, I read the Daily T on a regular basis but cannot recollect him being mentioned tho I know from the article he was Ambassador in "Redland"
