My mother used to use vinegar too.

Another thing that used to be advertised was egg yolk! Never fancied it myself - not on my hair anyway. :-S

Now belonging to the Homer Simpson hair appreciation society, I no longer have such worries.

And I have saved a bit by not having to buy combs or brushes.
