I'll bear in mind the 'purple stars' idea if I'm stuck on an ancestor but otherwise the hot match service needs to be fixed and run properly. GR used to be a priority site for me but now it's in a very poor 10th place!

You can search for your own matches by clicking on the purple stars on each name on your tree. By doing a section at a time, you soon get round the nearer ones.

I've subs to Ancestry and they at least give hints for your tree members and even find other members trees through them. FMP have hints from them and Myheritage if you have a sub to the 2 sites as well as an FH6 program.
The hotmatches they used to provide on here were often duplicated and not deleted.
If you have a large tree such as I have, you can't be bothered putting in names on the search tree facility here-it's too much hassle! It should be an easy service to members-its not hard-other sites can do it. Don't think I'll be renewing my sub this year due to that!

Welcome to the boards, John.

As far as anyone can work out, the Hotmatches haven't worked since about June last year. It would be easier if you use the Search all member trees facility- top right under Search - rather than wait for a run to occur.

We get the impression that this site is now the poor relation in Brightsolids portfolio. Their resources are focused on Findmypast with only an occasional glance at GR.

The main strength of this site is in its members and the community boards, something FMP doesn't have.

When is this going to restart properly this time around. I've recently renewed my sub -last July-but still no hot matches? :-(
