It would not have been much of a change had she married him.

Trumps lady friend prior to the current Mrs T was called Celina Midelfart.

A rose by any other name .....

When you are given two Christian names you have more choice. :-D

I grew up knowing we were going by the wrong surname and it never bothered me a jot. Still doesn't.

Anyway, I wonder if Trump is aware that some people use his name when asking children if they have "broken wind" - crazy isn't it but we are not the only family I know to use that expression.

LOL Winchester a sea side town that would be interesting.....then again it would rather prove his point to some degree.

Sharron

Sharron Report 1 Feb 2017 11:20

I think so. Of course,if he was holding back the sea at Winchester, he made a very good job of it!

Kense

Kense Report 1 Feb 2017 11:09

Do you mean Cnut? He was buried at Winchester wasn't he.

Caroline

Caroline Report 1 Feb 2017 10:56

one of many possible sites :)

Sharron

Sharron Report 1 Feb 2017 10:47

Oh,right.

He was supposed to have done the sea bit at Bosham.

Caroline

Caroline Report 1 Feb 2017 10:37

The one that tried to hold back the sea ??...yes.....road named after him and he was in Southampton when declared King....are we allowed to mention the name ? :)

Sharron

Sharron Report 1 Feb 2017 10:35

I didn't know the gentleman I referred to had any connection to Southampton either.

Caroline

Caroline Report 1 Feb 2017 10:25

Sorry I was saying that as the person to whom you refer as a possible name does have connections with Southampton.......No idea with Rollo......

Sharron

Sharron Report 1 Feb 2017 10:16

He does?

I prefer to not think about his connections!

Caroline

Caroline Report 1 Feb 2017 10:14

So he has a Southampton connection then...??

Sharron

Sharron Report 1 Feb 2017 10:00

Anyway, having considered all the little clues he has given on this thread, I think I have worked out what Rollo's real given name is. I think he must have been named after a king, that Danish one.

Oh,you know,he tried to hold back the sea.

Should we cast a spell over misspelling?

Guinevere

Guinevere Report 1 Feb 2017 08:36

I have an unusual Christian name and a board name that some find hard to spell. I can't get worked up about it, I know if someone means me.

After a lifetime of misspelling I really can't find it in me to care.

maggiewinchester

maggiewinchester Report 1 Feb 2017 07:03

My maiden name is unusual, most people get both the pronunciation and spelling wrong, then try to tell me where it probably came from (what would I know) - and how it SHOULD be pronounced!

One of the reasons, when I divorced, I kept my married name :-D
