putting family history on to cd

Welcome to the boards Bridget.

Just to clarify what DetEcTive said....you do have to buy Family Historian, it is not a free program, but it is a very good one. I have it and haven't explored a quarter of what it can do. I didn't even know I could make a CD from it so I'll have to have a look at that now.

Family Historian has the facility to 'Make a Family History CD/DVD'. Never tried it. so don't know if it just shows a written 'Report' or if a Tree view is incorporated.

I have the Heritage Family Tree software.

I can't get on with the Ancestry one at all.

Welcome to the boards.

I use FamilyTreeMaker (an old version) which you have to pay for but there are lots of free programs around. Have a look here for some comparisons:-

If you don't like the look of any of those just google.......free family history programs.....and see what comes up.
