As you come out of Cloth Market
St Nicolas Church is just across the road.
So it was a short walk for them on their wedding day.

It is Cloth Market and it's still there in Newcastle. Agree with the rest. on names.

Many certs up to the 1900s had people just leaving their mark as they couldn't read and write. Education was only for those with money. It was 1880 that compulsory education came in. Before 1880 it was Sunday Schools and Ragged Schools that educated the poor but most children were at work before teenage years.

I was thinking that McAlp I thought they put a cross if they couldn't read . so does Cloth Market still exist ? Where would i find old street maps?

It's not a stones throw for St Nicholas church where they married
and not far from the Tyne Bridge.

It looks to me like the place where they lived is Cloth Market

Look at the cert in Keepsake and to the right there is a list - title etc and at the bottom of this list is edit. Hit edit.

The list at the right has now expanded - you will see a picture of a lock and the word privacy drop that list down - hit share with everyone and make sure you hit save changes at the bottom.

Now copy the URL and paste it on here telling us it's the link. :-)
