Mass grave containing remains of babies discovered in sewage tank at notorious mother and baby home where ‘800 children died’

The Mother and Baby Homes Commission said excavations since November at the site of the former Bon Secours Mother and Baby Home in Tuam, County Galway, had made disturbing discoveries.

The Magdalene laundries and their ties with the convent orphans has been described very well by Benjamin Black in his Quirke novels set in 1950s Dublin eg "the Silver Swan". An adaptation was shown not long ago on BBC.

Dark deeds have been known for years all that is new is the location of the bodies.

There was a similar incident in Jersey the Rc church does not have a monopoly on evil.
