I have certainly been known to put the wipers on to show I am turning right whilst driving a different car so I can understand making the wrong decision with a four second window of thinking time.

Isn't there a view that he may have "forgotten" which plane he was actually flying that day as he was used to flying something similar ?

Either way a very sad situation, which could have been even worse.

The report indicates that it was pilot error: too low & too slow.

Brings back memories: Seeing a ball of flame and smoke but no parachute, thinking "that's the pilot gone"; waiting for news; being told there were seven fatalities; rest of show cancelled but couldn't get off the airfield as the main entrance was blocked; letting family know I was safe in case they saw the news reports; hours later finally getting out of a totally inadequate emergency exit (really surprised at that; it needs fixing even for everyday operations as there is a low bridge that an ambulance or fire engine wouldn't be able to get under onto the airfield if there had been casualties there); slow journey home, getting there nearly midnight; hearing full death toll on the news; surprise that the pilot survived.

Still get flashbacks.
