Linda don't forget both passengers and crew could be from elsewhere. He could have been crew and stayed on when it reached Southampton.

Frederick Fleet lived in Norman Road - the same road my sister and I lived in for a few years :-0

My late uncle had a pair of spectacles that belonged to someone that was on board but can find no trace my mum seems to think it was her mothers bother but they had nothing to do with Southampton

One side of my family (on granddad's side) lived in Albert Road, Chapel, Southampton for 4 generations.
Seven crew members of the Titanic lived in that road.

Great granddad (on granny's side) was a ship's steward in Southampton at the time, but fortunately with the Royal Mail Steam Packet Company
:-D :-D

Seven crew members of the Titanic also came from the road they lived in - Northcote Road.

Another part of the puzzle....

It basically seems to have been the perfect storm...the bunker fire...the design...hitting the iceberg on the side not the bow....speeding through ice field etc etc

There was a programme on television about it today. I have seen it before so I didn't watch it tonight but there is some question about the design of the bulkheads.

Well that is the theory as to why Grand great mother had her heart attack but I can't find any reason to believe it (yet)

The Titanic has always fascinated me. I know it was supposed to be unsinkable, but I would of at less finished building it before sailing anywhere shush! :-P

The story goes that most of the crew "jumped ship" once it got to Southampton, and therefore yes most of the crew were from Southampton. It's said whole streets had almost every house that was affected directly or indirectly.

I've been doing some work for the Forgotten Wrecks project, which is cataloguing wrecks in the Solent from WW1. There are LOADS of them and many, many of those crews lost were Southampton men and women :-(

My grandfather was a steward serving on liners at this time. He didn't sail on Titanic (but probably could have done - according to family story he didn't like maiden voyages because they were harder work!!). He was on the Olympic, her sister ship. He was from Southampton, as were many of my ancestors on this side.

Can you imagine the impact that disaster had on the economy of Southampton? Most of those lost were breadwinners which would have had a huge impact on the Poor Law administration.

Many of the crew were from Southampton, where I have a lot of links.

I know there were crew members with the same surname, but as yet I've not found a definite relationship.

My grandmother said that the Captain was her uncle. I have not found the remotest evidence for that. Unfortunately I never pressed her for further information probably because I found it a bit embarrassing at the time.

She never said anything about being related to the head of the Culworth Gang though.

So it's 105 years since she hit that iceberg and we all know what happened.

Anyone ever found out they had a relative on board ?
