Supermarkets do not pay extra for working bank holidays or Sundays.
A lot of people eg building trades. I.t., work self employed and ignore b.h. Or would lose money. Another example of the cluelessness of Corbyn.
If St Georges day etc to be Bh then they would have to add Eid, Jewish new year and so on. A better idea would be to stop the overcharging in February July and August for family holidays.

For businesses that must stay open 7 days each week especially those who operate 24/7 their wage bill be hiked by paying double time for cover on the new Bank Holidays too.

Can you really see the Saint Day's happening or did they mean only one extra per country? What with a moveable Easter, the country might just as well shut up shop for March & April. Hang on. Let's remove BH on Good Friday, Easter Monday, Christmas Day if it falls on a weekday & Boxing Day. That would work. (Sarcasm)

Four extra bank holidays is not much is it. Why not have an extra eleven. We could celebrate Christmas on the 25th of each month. Since Christmas always boosts the economy it would give us a great advantage until the rest of the world caught up.

There's a meme floating round on facebook listing marginal constituencies and suggesting how to vote to keep the Tories out if you live in one of those, based on previous election results.

I think that could be quite handy and would save some time researching for yourself.

Most politically aware people know what's going on in their own constituencies, others are less interested but want the Tories out.

I think it's a given all parties lie to get elected and then maybe once elected they might do some of their promises...been proven time in time out.

Unfortunately yes in a free country even "fools" are allowed to vote :-D but lets assume those that gave money to the cause have a brain cell or two hence they have a job so can pay towards this.....why do they need to help to tell people how to tactically vote. Any politician worth their salt should be able to "tell you" how to vote it's called canvassing, and the best liar I mean the most convincing wins.

Ah I thought it was just a general observation.

But I guess it is up for debate whether everyone CAN think for themselves? ( esp' if they are expected to reach a decision with no input of accurate information) or at least whether a number of people who DO allegedly think can be trusted to have the intelligence level of a dead flea when coming to their decision :-)

And every paper big or small in the UK for instance has some loyalty even the so called Independent .

The wonders of a free country is the press is allowed to do that as you are intelligent enough to know before you even buy the paper which loyalties they hold. :-)
As adults you all know how to tactically vote if you choose to do so, why does someone else need to tell you who to vote for.

The main problems with the NHS - too top heavy with managers and not enough nurses/doctors and you need to start charging those not entitled to free service a charge.
Tiny or otherwise a majority is just that.

I'm getting more and more annoyed about this 'Will of the People' thing.

It was the will a a tiny majority.

Lets suppose May gets with 52-48% majority on a pledge to increase taxes by 20% and charge £100 each time you visit the doctor or A&E all to pay for increased pensions and elderly care.

Do you think those who didn't vote will be expected to sit back with a never mind, it was the will of the people?

Rather amusing that the Tories are going on about other parties trying to frustrate the "Will of the People". What do they think a General Election is? A referendum could better be described as "A Whim of the People".

If you make enough - £ 500 K pa min - and not in the public eye then it is fairly ez not to pay tax so long as you are OK with 20% fees. It is those earning £ 50 - 200 K per annum on salaries, mostly v skilled and hard working, who get clobbered.

Yet 101 kinds of trading and unearned income are lightly taxed if at all.

The trouble with Labour is that the leveller instinct is much greater than actually collecting tax. The Tories see the poor multitudes as their main revenue target. No wonder nobody is happy.

Until and unless we have a competent opposition then the madness of the brexit project and its child Scottish independence will roll on until they come up against immovable external blocks.

Listened to some of the comment on the Vine prog today when collecting GS from playschool.

9/10 were ordinary working people, plumbers, electricians etc, often self employed, earning around the 70k mark who were emphatic they were most definately NOT well off. Not a banker amongst them.

Almost all made the point that for every £ extra they earn they pay 40p to the taxman already, so why should they pay even more.
