Try this

http://www.ancestry.co.uk/cs/offers/subscribe?dna=crossAct&irpid=55537

According to someone who has used it, no new account was needed. In fact they kept "Same name, same account, same email..."

Well if thats the aim just run a new trial account every 2 weeks with payment tied to a cash money card. Free all the time.

Although there is a lot of dross on Ay ( and all other FH Site) there are also many v useful private member trees. Sharing with these members has numerous benefits. Continually dumping yr acct for a new one would makr such sharing and collaboration v difficult.

Ay have free edition available at UK public libraries. Maybe they do this elsewhere.

At the end of the day budgets are a result of balancing hassle against value. I admit to not trying v hard to minimise small costs but for sure I do on other things!

It's called Budgeting, Rollo or, if you prefer, 'loving a bargain'. :-D

Most of us have either a self or externally imposed limit on what we'd spend on a hobby. The money saved on a subscription could go towards other hobby-related expenses.

Sylvia, did you phone to cancel the subscription or have you assumed it's lapsed? If you'd paid last year by card you may find they've automatically charged you for this years. If it is genuinely ended, you might get sent an email offering a discount.

If you have a tree on Ay and access to Op trees then such access will not transfer to a new bargain sub. OP may grant access to yr new sub. As regards any old tree no further access if private limited if public. Thus anybody doing wackamole with Ay offers needs to setup the new acct before the old one runs out if they wish to read the old tree.

Myself I dont know why on so many things people put up with so much inconvenience at so much effortfor trivial sums of money.

I think it's JoonieCloonie on Genes who often posts about Ancestry discounts - just by comparing the costs through their Canadian, American or Australian portals. CAn't (of course) find a thread at the moment.
