There was a half an hour programme on Monday evening, Tonight, with JC being interviewed and friends talking about his early years and I found it interesting. He certainly isn't one for fripperies and opulence. Seemed to be on the sidd of basic rights and fair living standards

No problem, Von :-D :-D

Corbyn is definitely better with children than May - or for that matter, Cameron :-D

Von

Von Report 17 May 2017 20:08

Sorry Maggie. I've got to be the world's slowest typist ;-)

Maybe not Sharron but some insight into personal life can give some idea of their character.
I'm not talking about media hype but their attitude to family etc.

Boris has made another gaff after a visit to a Sikh temple.

I just wish the media would give a less biased view.

Sharron,
Johnson has really thrown a clanger - haven't seen it on the front pages, though.
Discussing alcohol in a Gurdwara (Sikh Temple), and wearing an orange Turban - usually reserved for young (non-Sikh) boys who visit.

Well, I suppose he has the brain of a 5 year old, so maybe could be forgiven for the Turban.....

So, this is the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs.
Jolly good job Johnson - What Ho!!

Nice to know MP's (or their minions) do some research ........or in this case, can't be bothered...

Sharron

Sharron Report 17 May 2017 19:53

That is something else that is none of my business.

Rollo, I think you'll find he is estranged from THAT wife, but as Von pointed out - he is on wife No. 3.

Just shows how well he's doing not 'touting' her about, - you obviously didn't meet her - and how so many people are taken in by the media bias!! :-D

Sharron

Sharron Report 17 May 2017 19:23

It is not my business how you or anybody votes.

I am just interested in Jeremy Corbyn's approach to leadership.

Boris Johnson is quite interesting too. A bumbling duffer as Mayor of London, as soon as there was something happening after the Brexit vote, he became a very serious politician.

Rambling Report 17 May 2017 19:14

lol Sharron don't take my criticism of May's dress sense as my reason for not voting for her. I have a long list of valid political reasons as well but I won't bore everyone with those :-)

Sharron

Sharron Report 17 May 2017 18:27

This thread is giving a wonderful insight into how the population decide how to vote.

I received a very nice quality envelope this morning, addressed to son and I, hoping for something a little more interesting I was disappointed to find it was from 'The Right Horrible Theresa May' ...would it be impolite of me to return it and mention to her that I have not invited her to call me by my first name ?

Politics aside, I couldn't possibly vote for anyone who thought that the jacket she wore a few days ago was worth buying, at any price :-)

Von

Von Report 17 May 2017 17:46

Keep up Rollo. Corbyn is married to wife no three ;-)

At least we have some respite from the continual carping thanks to Mr. Trump :-D

Sharron

Sharron Report 17 May 2017 17:37

Oh well, there we are.

Dermot

Dermot Report 17 May 2017 17:12

I have no party affiliation. I simply vote for whoever I think is best equipped to run the country fairly.

maggiewinchester

maggiewinchester Report 17 May 2017 17:07

When faced with politicians you can't stand - the only alternative is to vote for their Party's views.

I respect Corbyn for not touting his family about like cheap 'extra's'.
He's the leader of the Party - it's his job, not theirs.
I also like the way he ignores media speculation and bias.

As has been said before, this is an election campaign, not 'Take Me out' or some tawdry 'Celebrity' show.

Sharron

Sharron Report 17 May 2017 17:02

I am really not in a position to make value judgement about his personality but am just very interested to watch his style of leadership.

You, of course, are entitled to cast your vote based on whatever process you choose.

At least you can tell the difference between the parties at this election.

Dermot

Dermot Report 17 May 2017 11:44

In politics, you are obliged to praise a colleague to the hilt & show God-like respect when questioned about their competence. However, as soon as a damning report comes along that highlights that person's inadequacies, they are manoeuvred towards the exit.

Some in high political positions do not always owe their status to being the best persons for their jobs on the basis of ability.

Give the fellow a chance. The long-suffering UK citizens need a break.

Sharron

Sharron Report 17 May 2017 11:07

This is no reflection of my political beliefs but I have been very interested to watch Jeremy Corbyn's style of leadership.

I know it is said that he is not leading his party and the newspapers slate him at every opportunity but it does look very traditional Labour to me. None of the pzazz of previous leaderships, little spin and he just lets the speculation happen while he gets on with it.

His private life is his private life, I know nothing of his wife or family, he is just doing the job.

Whatever happens, this is an interesting one.
