Hill of Crosses Lithuania

While browsing yesterday I came across this. Had to share it.
Just north of Poland in Lithuania there is a hill that must be the
site of a pilgrimage.

It is covered with hundreds, maybe thousands of crosses and rosary's

I remember my mum and dad telling me about this, if I am not mistaken they visited in the eighties.

Apparently at the last count a few years ago there were more than 100,000 crosses, figures etc.

How strange, and not what I was expecting.

There's a hill, or rather a slope, in California in the SF Bay Area. It started out with a few small wooden crosses such as we use for Rememberance Sunday. Now, everytime a Californian/local serviceman is killed in conflict, they plant another one.

I find these images incredibly sad.

They are north of that part of Poland where there were
so many concentration / death camps. :-(
