If it wasn't my 'real' e-mail I would agree with you JoonieCloonie. The only people who have my 'real' one are family, and I really don't think they would sign me up of the UK Labour party.
On-line sites, even this one, as my hotmail account. and I even have another hotmail account so the security question, if I ever lose my password, will go to that one instead of my real one.
Isn't the pro-right wing :-P great NOT. :-P

We have that kind of thing here. DET. The nursing home I volunteered at took 80% of their money each year for looking after them. :-|

The so called Dementia Tax is a proposal by the Conservatives in their election manifesto.
........
Under the Tory proposals, people needing social care at home would have to pay for it until the value of their assets – including their home – reached a floor of £100,000. The party also promised that a family home would never need to be sold in a person’s lifetime, with costs instead recouped after death.

(The Guardian newspaper on line)
.......

The same principle would be applied if they needed residential care. Although a number of the elderly do have Dementia, a similar number have mental capacity but are too frail to live alone. There'll more to it than that.....if it ever gets turned into Law.

Consider yourself lucky :-D

For years, I have been getting mail for a boorish idiot in Texas who has the same name as me and used MY online email address - my proper name @ - as if it were her own, every time she signed up for something - her husband's magazine subscriptions, their car dealer, her hobby shops, the charities where they donate money, and, the worst of all, right-wing politicians in Texas. Said politicians sell and trade their lists among themselves for all eternity, so I am on the mailing list of every nasty right-wing pro-Trump outfit in the USofA, I swear.

It's an window into an unpleasantly racist, bigoted, and stupid world, I can tell you.

Possibly the same thing happened to you, if you use an online email address especially. (But it's not, it's a local one?) People just give the wrong email address, intentionally or accidentally.

I am constantly being signed up, under a different email address (one that is my initials x 2 - as in jxcjxc@), for online music and Apple and Microsoft sites, and Uber training classes, and all kinds of stupid online sites where adolescents hang out, by people in London, Japan, Indonesia, Singapore ... apparently my initials are popular in the far east.

The problem is companies and organizations that *do not require confirmation* when someone signs up somewhere, by sending an email with something that must be activated. Even Facebook has allowed people to sign up using my jxcjxc address.

When people do that, I go to the account, say I have forgotten my password, get instructions emailed to my email address to change it, and then change it and take possession of the account. :-)

Not that I want it ... but then I can kill it.

Now everybody go give Labour some money so they stop bugging RMS :-D

For a month now the UK Labour party has been sending me e-mails asking me to send them money. Now I could push the unsubscribe button but how to I know that it is the 'real' Labour party and not just someone else. How they got my home e-mail address I'll never know? :-S Besides if I don't push any buttons I should be safe, right? :-0

Any way, I just got one saying that "The Tories' dementia tax is unravelling before their eyes" What is a 'dementia tax'? They say if anybody googles it they will only get what the Tories what people to hear.

Apparently they're raising money for a ad on TV, so if you are a Labour supporter please do ;-)
