I was born in Manchester..actually in Rusholme where my mother went into a very good nursing home called Denison House. It was a very classy area in those days and she said that you had to go through a toll gate to get to it and a lovely park where she could watch people playing tennis.

For the last number of years it has been a really overcrowded cosmopolitan area with lots of different nationalities and it is where the police were searching a lot of properties in relation to the Manchester Arena attack.

The nursing home has for a long while now been the Chinese Consulate and a grade 2 listed building.

It's not the Manchester I knew, but the spirit is the same.

I am still old enough to remember the Manchester .Blitz in 1940 when the whole of the centre was destroyed by the Luftwaffe, but Manchester carried on with this spirit,so I'm pleased that it still continues.

Londoners as well are keeping up this spirit of togetherness in these difficult times.
We have to fight these terrorists and not let them continue in this way.

Not my kind of music but endless admiration for all the bands and the fans.
It is wonderful to see such grit and spirit to celebrate life in our young people.
