Perhaps if someone is acting a plonker then it may cross someones mind that the persons mind isnt on full fuction. ;-) :-D.

Sorry typo meet

Who is to say whether something is deemed incredibly stupid, as some would have us believe that many of us always only say incredibly stupid things, which is counter with that person actually being totally wrong. Then to be always misquoted or misunderstood.

Yes indeed Caroline ( though did you intend to post 'meet' or 'merit'?) , and sometimes the initial insult is thrown because someone posts something so incredibly stupid, insensitive or provocative, it takes great self discipline not to say so in no uncertain terms.

Sometimes insults met insults.

As Caroline has recognised there HAVE been comments, my OP stands, the person is well able to counter, but should they have to?

What if it happens to a different person? Someone less able to cope? Is it helpful? is it useful adult debate?

"Are you drunk" is an aggressive question or it might also be a 'I'm worried that you're not yourself" question.

Snipey little comments on a dozen threads that someone is drinking are less obviously aggressive, but cumulatively amount to the same thing, though with less honesty.

I think the person in question is more than able to voice their disapproval if they are offended. :-)

I've not seen an accusation thrown at someone to ask...

**are you drunk**.

narcissistic people can be heavy drinkers and they operate to outsiders near normal. even though a few errors are often in the mix. ;-) :-D

Over the time when I was off the boards and since returning I have noticed more than several references to someone 'being on the drink'.

Now my question is, why, when someone suggested the same of me ( to paraphrase "have you been drinking?" when I took what might have been seen to be an opposite stance in a debate) did half a dozen or so fingers immediately go down on the 'Report' button to ask for that accusation be removed forthwith?

Just asking, because if someone can type a literate comment, albeit not one others agree with, it surely shows they are not drunk?( and those of us who have been here a while have seen drunken typing and it is very obvious.)

Sorry edited, because I had thrown in a double negative by mistake :-)
