Sick pay is around £ 65 week for non salaried workers it will not even pay his rent! He was not being brave just in the way. He will be off for a week. O.H. has managed to give him a bonus anyway.

All shop lifting is theft and should be punished severely. The needs/only a few things arguments don't stand up.

Contrary to what people think profit margins are tight and camnot support mob raids aka "steaming". As it is retail food prices are 2% higher than needs be due to theft.

Shoplifting is also an arrogant disrespect of those who do pay many of whom are not well off at all. Supermarkets are not a D.W.P claim point.

At least a half of shop lifting is to finance drugs. The whole sorry mess is way beyond the control of the police. I do not believe that any of our politicians have the slightest notion what to do about it. Stores are reacting by closing down where they encounter too much risk.

Sorry to hear this Rollo. You can sort of understand shoplifting if it's just one or two standard food items, but not the mob handed approach. It's (not) funny that booze is frequently targeted- not exactly an essential food group.

It's obviously not worth confronting them when you're so heavily out numbered. Hopefully the guy's bravery will be recognised & he'll be given sick pay while he recovers.

A surprising number of people from all walks of life are not satisfied by Bogoff, bargain bins and special promos. So they do a bit of freelance shopping on the side. Current favorites are steak and booze. Younger shoppers don't even bother to pretend they just sidle in, grab and run. All of this does my O.H bonus no good at all.
On Sunday evening though they were mob raided by five guys mean and in a hurry. Losses were of course serious but worst of all a young asst had his jaw broken. He will be off work for a bit with not much coming as he is on zero hours contract.

At least the police are taking it seriously for once sending a scene of crime truck and three officers. This happened only this morning although the crime was committed on Sunday.
The police crew were surprised that none of the Sunday night crew were on duty. They will take witness statements a.s.a.p.
