Don't really know as we rarely buy 'joints' unless they have a little yellow (reduced) sticker. If we buy meat from our farm shop butcher, it's usually more expensive than the supermarkets. Mind you, the quality is better!

It is £7 a kg. at Tescos but would always be more at a butchers (and probably better quality).

Found this at a wholesaler near to us who also sell to the public (the quality is always good):-

Hiya Barbra. :-) <3

I've checked the price of Brisket with Finlays butchers in the Grainger Market, Newcastle this morning and the retail price is £7.26 per Kg.
If you are buying Aberdeen Angus Brisket it would cost more.

Newcastle is obviously cheaper than Kent.

The independent village butcher said he didn't have any, but thought it would be c£9.80
Waitrose didn't have any either although the Meat Counter computer said it would have been £12.99. Neither expanded to say if it would be Angus or a different breed.

Supermarkets do normally offer better prices, but to the cost of their suppliers and local businesses. If we keep building on farmland, where are we going to grow the food or raise the livestock? It might have brought more visitors to the village but that's the only place they'd spend their money.

Not sure what the price of Brisket is per kilo Barbra? as we tend to have Brisket most Sundays I just pick out a piece thats a good size for the 2 of us, or choosing a bigger piece if we are expecting visitors for Sunday dinner.

I always roast my Brisket, wrapped in foil on a low heat, for a longer time, beautiful, & sooo tender.
