At 3pm at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church ,Charlton SE London I married my best friend and soul mate Micheal

It's a mixed day today .happy memories but very sad he isn't here to celebrate our diamond wedding anniversary. He made 58 years having passed away in 2015

So today I wear my solitaire diamond engagement ring with much pride and love

As you say Shirley, mixed thoughts for you. But enjoy looking back at the happy memories, have a chat to his photo and raise a glass to him this evening. Sad that he didn't make the 60 years but you were luckier than many to have 58 happy years with him.

My Mum was so looking forward to her diamond wedding anniversary in 1994, she died on 29 July and her diamond wedding celebrations were all planned for 29 August . My Dad was so upset about it.

Sad you didn't make 60 but 58 is still very good. My parents only did 33 years before my father died. Remember the good times, treasured memories.

The first family party I remember was my paternal grandparents golden wedding anniversary. It was on 30th May 1953, the anniversary was Sunday 31st (also my dad's birthday) but the party was on the Saturday. The coronation was on the following Tuesday, that was the first time I saw TV. Had another first a couple of weeks later, stood and watched the same people at the party in cars following the hearse carrying my paternal grandfather. No one was aware he was dying of cancer until the night before the coronation when he collapsed.

Thinking of you today :-) <3

Thank you folks

Well I have my step grandson here with me as it's school holidays

He is the lad who has learning difficulties so can't be on his own even though he is 17

He needs constant attention and routine because he is also on the autistic spectrum so we have a routine which includes a trip to the cinema

So at 3pm will be in the cinema about to watch Captain Underpants !!!

Bet hubby would say "charming ". Lol ;-)

Thoughts for you, Shirley, I hope Captain Underpants made you smile. That's a different way to spend an anniversary, but I am sure your Michael is sharing your day as always and will see that you are still caring for family in your own loving way.

Enjoy your happy memories of having a true soulmate in your life.

My parents married latish (In their thirties) and just managed 44 years wed, Dad struggled on through late stage cancer but lost his fight less than 4 weeks after their anniversary.
