But Allan I merely mentioned how gay as in happy it was for such a sad occasion :-D

Allan

Allan Report 5 Aug 2017 06:26

I'm often legless :-D

The gay word?

Shock! Horror! :-0 :-D :-D

Poor Sharron, I fear another thread may be RR'd :-(

Caroline

Caroline Report 5 Aug 2017 03:14

Hmm....well brief history of the threads this past day or so.......
Sharron made a comment about a funeral she'd attended adding some humour albeit factual information.
The itchy finger struck again deeming us in need of the moral high ground.

The complaint was in many's opinion "legless" and was rather "gay" brightening up the boring threads.

MrMagoo did do a thread along the lines of "Don't read this if".....and it was RR and pulled.
Some people like to be a Mary Whitehouse on speed it seems.

Allan

Allan Report 5 Aug 2017 01:03

There is no reason, except, talking as six year olds,....because! :-D :-D

:-D :-) :-( :-0 :-| :-P :-\ ;-) :-S

Why?

If I see 'click bait' on the internet that I don't fancy - I don't bl**dy click on it!!!!

Allan

Allan Report 5 Aug 2017 00:36

MrMagoo tried it once not so long ago with inevitable results :-D

maggiewinchester

maggiewinchester Report 5 Aug 2017 00:24

....but why would someone who doesn't like dark or humour above that of a six year old deliberately visit a thread that was advertised as such?

Still max two hours :-D

maggiewinchester

maggiewinchester Report 4 Aug 2017 23:53

I'm not talking about nasty humour, or dirty - just (maybe) a wee bit grown up!!

Caroline

Caroline Report 4 Aug 2017 23:48

Good idea Maggie....bet it lasts less than two hours .

maggiewinchester

maggiewinchester Report 4 Aug 2017 23:38

...maybe, along with the Bland Thread, we should have a 'Grown up, Possibly Smutty, Undoubtedly Hilarious thread' - sensitive souls not welcome :-D :-D :-D

Caroline

Caroline Report 4 Aug 2017 23:32

Ditto Allan and Maggie......I'm old enough and ugly enough to know what I like and what I don't..if I don't like as Maggie said I have two choices reply or ignore.

Allan

Allan Report 4 Aug 2017 23:10

Totally agree, Maggie.

I have no wish for someone to be outraged on my behalf!

maggiewinchester

maggiewinchester Report 4 Aug 2017 22:59

If I find something insensitive on a post, I ignore it - no-one's making me read it.
If it hits a nerve, I would say.

If someone says something insensitive to my face - I tell them, I don't take the ultimate act - thump them. I may never speak to them again - that's my choice.

If someone makes a nasty 'dig at me', on a thread, I either ignore it or have a 'dig' back - I know I'm lucky to be able to do that - some people can't.
If someone makes a nasty dig at me in person, I tell them they're out of order - again I don't do the ultimate and thump them

The chances of this lady's family being on here, or reading it are extremely slim.
I believe Sharron lives in a small village - she's sure to know who belongs to this site!!
Didn't someone say, not a week ago, that the boards were slow ie not many posting?
Could it be because, even though we are 'grown ups', some don't appreciate 'grown up' and 'black' humour, and we are limited to the jokes a six year old may say, or these liberators of our moral health will report the thread?

Rambling Report 4 Aug 2017 22:43

If the person who reported found it insensitive for their own reasons ( maybe it hit a nerve) or intrusive to the family of the lady in question ( who I assume don't know their relative is being discussed?) then that's how they felt,

Rambling

Rambling Report 4 Aug 2017 22:38

I don't think anyone WAS taking the moral high ground? just explaining why someone 'might' have reported the thread.

BUT this is the reason why people DON'T ask for posts to be edited or 'softened' a bit...it's just not worth the hassle of being accused of having no sense of humour ...it's why it is so much easier just to report and not say anything.

Caroline

Caroline Report 4 Aug 2017 22:36

It's a fine line between being insensitive and black humour, and in all honestly black humour doesn't have to be totally offensive....some; and I'm not saying in this case; people just look for problems when there aren't any.
