There's taking the moral high ground, and having no sense of humour!
I personally feel, the moral high ground should be taken if the butt of the situation is a living person who is upset/picked on/damaged, for example the DWP's attitude to disabled people.

Maybe anyone who knew the family Sharron was talking about would have the right to take the moral high ground, but, unless you knew them, it was just a funny story/situation.
Black humour is a 'thing' in Britain - it helps those in stressful jobs survive.

My nephew has MS.
He applied for a high power job - I told him to apply, said he was had a high chance of being taken on as the 'token' disabled person, to fulfil their obligation.
His reply? 'Should I dribble a bit?' (he doesn't dribble)
He got the job - been there for 15 years - and didn't dribble in the interview :-D :-D

Was I being insensitive? Nephew didn't think so, he though it hilarious.
Would I say that to a stranger? Unlikely - depends..

It's funny though isn't it...you express some sensitivity towards other people's feelings and you're instantly accused of taking the "moral high ground" as if it's a fault, but then where would we all be if no-one ever DID take the moral high ground?

I will leave the moral high ground to those who feel they need to be there.

I really have better things to do than argue matters of taste.
