Where did Supercrutch reside during the long years of Atlee, wilson, Callaghan, Blair and Brown? Presumably she did not use the NHS and objected to ROSLA.

Morgan Stanley in their latest client briefing expect the govt to fall in 2018 bringing Labour to power heading a coalition. They are not alone.

Where would Supercrutch go to make good on her promise? The list of countries with open doors for crabby impecunious old ladies is short. Ask Dermot about it ROI where pensions would be ok even post brexit.

Maggie, gold reserves are indexed at the bottom of the page :-D

BTW I don't vote Labour, don't support Labour and would exit the UK if they were elected by the great unwashed.

The UK govt deficit is growing at an even faster rate than that of the USA.
It is quite impossible to fix it by reducing public spending unless something significant was axed such as pensions , housing benefit, post 18 education, NHS.
A return to growth of 3% or better (achieved every year under Blair/Brown) would at least stop the deficit expanding. Pre brexit uk growth for 2018 is expected to be 1.2% and quite likely negative post brexit.

It was kind of May to extend her support for defence and trade to Japan but she was not taken seriously. Poss the jumbo liars on her front bench have dented credibility.

As for Mnuchin, I suspect his love for fiction is on a par with his wife's lol. Both about as trustworthy as a highly paid employee 'bigging up' their boss for their business acumen even when the world and his wife know said boss is selling assets at a rate of knots.

Anyway, we don't take notice of MSM, we do take notice of analysts ;-)

RolloTheRed Report 5 Sep 2017 18:01

US Treasury Sec Steve Mnuchin visited Fort Knox 17.8.2017. He reported that the gold was there.

Substantial US gold assets are also held in NYC, Chicago and Denver.

No modern currency is "backed" by gold inc UK £ and $ US.

It is China not NK which is playing dangerous games.

All China has to do is cut off an old rusty oil pipe and that's it game over for the NK regime. So far it has not done this as it does not want a failed state on its borders plus NK is a part of a plan to drive the USA out of the western Pacific. The correct US response is to squeeze China which is just what it is doing.

There will be no hot war in the near future. That said the US/China rivalry is very similar to US/Japan 1930-1946. At this time neither side are minded to compromise. The US though has a massive armed advantage which China will not be able to challenge anytime soon.

China is also making some very poor economic choices designed to keep the CP in power. They could easily pitch the country into the sort of civil war which terminated so many Han dynasties.

Try not to take the front line English press and the BBC too much to heart. They have other agendas than truth.

supercrutch Report 5 Sep 2017 14:54

Actually if you research the world's stated gold reserves many do not even exist....lolol

Fort Knox is reputed to be full of absolutely nothing of any significant value. Of course, no physical examination will be granted because the US economy will collapse as would the economies of other countries who believe their gold reserves are lodged there.. The only country sure to have actual physical gold reserves is Switzerland and the ownership of much of that is disputed.

Ordinary people can and have made money from judicious purchases of gold items, I have. I held jewellery for years and sold the majority when I became ill. If I had held on for another 12 months I would have made an extra 20% on top of the 50% I did make but needs forced sale at that time.

Anyway back to the subject of this thread.....

The good old UN are proving as toothless as usual. There is no 'acting for the good of all' once again.

Anyone with two sparking brain cells will appreciate that NK is playing a very dangerous game.

nice rhyme Allan

re: gold trade
Should not be confused with your family baubles. Traders rarely if ever deal with physical gold which remains in one of a small number of vaults. Central Banks themselves ship gold from time to time.
If you fancy a punt on gold there are minicontracts starting at 32oz tick 10c. Standard contracts 1kg.
You can get rich very quickly or lose the lot even faster.
Not really for beginners.
While it is true that wars and rumours of wars drives up the gold price v few make money out of it. There are better ways to hedge.

Actually, we should be careful not to upset those of greater minds than ourselves maybe they'd be sitting on their private island thinking of ways to get revenge on us bears of little brains. If we did as we were advised we'd dump our gold for others to buy cheaply, so they could buy a new island or two.... :-D :-D :-D :-D

Other than that Maggie totally agree

We all have opinions, but most of us say they're opinions, don't put them forward as 'facts', and slate anyone who dares to disagree with the figments of our imaginations!! :-D :-D :-D :-D

Actually, we all have imaginations, but (apparently) our imaginative thoughts are not as good as others'. (note the apostrophe)
Ours are 'bear brained'. :-D

BTW I trade in crypto currency as my son kindly gifted me ETH to play with, I wear my gold :-D

As we were assured that NK was 5 years away from any significant firework that required unleaded to launch by Rollo I think we can put more trust in what chiefs of armed forces are stating.

Bandwidth - interesting word.
Waste of electronic bandwidth or mental capacity bandwidth.

The road to an icbm with an h bomb on top remains long and hard.
What's an icbm ?(I presume it's meant to be in lower case) I don't talk acronym.
