It does appear that if you don't already already have a free guest account you do have to send them your email

"**Access to the records in the featured collections will be free from 00:01 BST 25.08.17 to 23:59 BST 28.08.17. To view these records you will need to register for free with Ancestry.co.uk with your name and email address. We will then send you a username and password to access the records. After the free access period ends, you will only be able to view the records in the featured collections using an Ancestry.co.uk paid membership. To see a full list of the records in the featured collections please click here"

Joan, don't know if this will help but a post on FB querying it has this reply from Ancestry

" Hi all, apologies for any difficulty you've had using the free access. Please login to your account and click on the 'search' icon at the top of the homepage, from there you should have no issues using the free access."
