I grow my lemon balm in a pot so no problem with it spreading and not so far down to pick it either! I pick the small young leaves and add them to a chicken sandwich to make a nice change. :-)

They used to put herbs on the floor in olden times and the trampling of them would release the aromas so you could try it Sharron. I expect putting them in your slippers might work just as well and make less mess!! :-) :-) ;-) I might try some of my spearmint in mine!

Geranium oil on a wodge of cotton wool, tucked into a radiator or in the car, can perk up your mood and keep you alert

Lemon balm is a member of the mint family and like mint will spread all over the place if allowed to. it is not related to lemon verbena which reached the UK from Spain. It is native in S America.

sharron you certainly won't kill Leomon balm, we pull it up like weeds in our garden as it spreads everywhere.

:-D :-D :-D :-D. You can visit here and kill our problem Ivy. It comes over from the smallholding next door and is a pain in the a**e :-|

I have been known to kill ivy.It is unwise to stand still in our garden at the moment or the bindweed will get you. It is going like the clappers.

Perhaps just the tiniest dab of Rotella behind the ears, just for old time's sake.

No worry Sharron, if I can't kill it nobody can ;-) :-D :-D

Lemon balm also seems to self seed - we didn't plant it. Our neighbour did!

The 'scent' of Castrol Xxl may be invigorating, but not something we'd really fancy on bed linen or dapped on our necks. Lets go with Sharron's Oil of Lemon ;-) :-D

So,indeed, does sage. That plant in the front garden is now about five foot square. It is coming out and going in another pot under the front window.

I have just Googled it before somebody else does and becomes the world's leading expert. It is a mint so there will be no holding it, unless I plant it, then it will die!

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 22 Aug 2017 13:45

It's also nice to cook with too. Lovely in Ice cream :-D :-D :-D :-D. Be warned it needs restraining as it spreads like billy ho :-D

No, I haven't. Really must have a go at it.

We have a fabulous pot of sage which I am really fond of, looks gorgeous and tastes a bit good too.

Have you grown Lemon Balm Sharron ? It is really easy and rubbed in your hands gives delicious lemon scent. I have it near the back door and use it a lot to get rid of the smell of onion or garlic from cooking. Nice to brush past too and the flies don't like it.
