At least two of May's brexit stooges have claimed that brexit is a piece of cake. The other one wants to eat the cake.

May wants to ramp up brexit work given the yawning gap of uncertainty.

Meeting in Brussels this afternoon the 27 EU anbassadors gave M Barnier's report only five minutes attention before moving on to other business. It looks unlikely that May's demands for more meetings etc will be met.

The British side are failing to connect. Regardless of leave/remain this is an incipient disaster for everyone.

Oh well if they refuse to talk to anyone then that's it then isn't it....what nice people they all are. Good way to do business.

Why would they spend more time talking about us leaving? It's up to us isn't it? Wasn't that the point?

I assume the other countries staying in the EU would expect the majority of the time to be spent on matters that concern them ...not the walking out that the UK has decided on ;-)

Anyway we don't want foreign cake do we? We must all get used to Victoria sponge, no Black Forest Gateau or Battenburg cake here ;-) and as for French Fancies :-0

I would assume they have to talk to agree on the splitting up, if one side won't even pretend to listen..

Have 'we' actually come up with a plan yet? Other than some leaked ( again!) documents today?

For instance on the news in the background I can hear comments re Science, that we get out of the research fund more than we pay in.

Explained better here https://tinyurl.com/y9b7z34r

But I particularly like one of the comments from readers

"Episode 14 of How to Leave the European Union While Remaining in It"

Davis has been informed by Merkel that trying to remain within the EU science programs comes under "cherry picking" whatever the wish list. The leaked immigration paper will not help either.

The EU has set out its stall which the UK refuses to accept. Instead it has produced a series of "position" / wish list papers. these are very poorly prepared and full of holes. Barnier and co want to talk but cannot do much so long as the uk has no coherent documents. Davis no homework winging it style does not cut it.

Scary.

Brexsh*t?

Bearing in mind general experience of large govt computer projects consider this.

The current customs computer system is dead on its feet. After years of development at a cost of £ 180 M a new system is due to go online two months before brexit. It does not have any capability to deal with the UK as a EU "third country". It is designed for max transactions 20% of post brexit load.

unless the UK remains within the EEA the inevitable result will be chaos.

Then there is aviation, chemicals, food, mfg supply chains etc etc. It simply is not possible to sort this all out for brexit in a year. Yet the UK is intent on making enemies when it needs friends.

It will all end in tears. The EU and remainers will be blamed.
