I am 82 and fortunately can still get out, drive and lead a bit of a social life.

Just had one lot of my grandchildren who live about 80 miles away saywe are coming to see you next weekend .I think they have the idea that I'm sitting in my chair waiting for someone to come.

I said ,I'm going to the theatre then, can you give me more notice.
Some of us oldies are still able to go out and be independent.

I do like surprises, but when living so far away I don't want them to come and find me out!

I was once organizing a meeting with a supervisor I had not met before and I siad she would recognize me because I was a size 26.

She said I didn't sound it!

Old age is just something we all grow into at the same speed.

Old age has given me a thick skin & I'm a tad deaf plus my mind wanders occasionally. My memory goes back to at least breakfast time most days.

In today's world, our years of accumulated & collective knowledge can be found on the Net if nowhere else.

I am getting pretty close to the ripe old age of 80, and usually when people find out the response is a polite (but untrue) "you don't look it".

The other day I was on the phone to a tour operator, booking next year's holiday, and giving all the usual personal details. After date of birth, she said "Happy Birthday". I thanked her and mentioned the magic 80. :-)

Her reply? "I wish I was 80." :-0

When I'd recovered I asked her why, and she said she wished she had the wisdom that comes with age. I told her she'd be 80 soon enough and to make the most of her youth while it lasted! :-) :-)
