I wasn't aware of one at the time.
There was a huge China Clay quarry at St Austell when I lived there - now the 'Eden Project'.

However, through the centuries, there were quarries all over the place.
You could plough through this:

Was there a quarry around Deadman's Point back in the 1800's until the 1920's please.

Ooo-err - Dodman's point.
I went long line mackerel fishing there when I was 10.
Wasn't too happy - I can't swim (unless it's an emergency) and at least12 people were drowned there the week before :-(

Googled the Deadman's Point got National trust also Francis Frith Maps but no name that matched.

At 374 feet (114 m) Dodman Point near Mevagissey is the highest headland on the south Cornwall coast.[3] It was originally known as the Deadman or Deadman's Point, which names are still sometimes used.[4] It hosts the remains of an Iron Age promontory fort.[2] At its seaward end is a large granite cross, erected to help protect shipping from this headland.[3] It is mentioned in the shanty Spanish Ladies.

To its north-east and in its lee is the small anchorage and sand beach of Gorran Haven.

Deadman's Point at Cornwall

I am looking for the nearest village /town as that is where a cousin's husband has put down on the marriage cert but I can't make out the name.

**ithians That's all I can make out for the village /town/area.

Must be near Falmouth as that is what my cousin has put down as her town on the cert.
