I just received an email from a dear friend of more than 45 years, who has lived in Miami for many years. She says the wind etc was dreadful for 24 hrs but because she is near the east coast, things weren't as bad as expected. They have no electricity tho and no idea when it will be restored.

I was worried about her and her son so I was a big relief to hear from her.

I rang our Les earlier, as I hadn't seen him on line. He is going back to the hospital tomorrow for the check up on his op and hopes all will ve well. He had to have a skin graft from behind his ear to his nose so reckons he looks like a cross between Van Gogh and Quasimodo lol

Glad your friend was safe, Liz.
My late brother in laws sister lives in Katy, Houston - she had a lot of water and power cuts, but was safe, above the water line.

Good luck to Les tomorrow - he should remember, beauty is deeper than the skin. <3

Glad your friend is safe Liz, son has a friend who was on holiday in Miami they were evacuated to Orlando, must be such a worry if you are on holiday but not as devastating as those who lose their homes.
Love to Les, hope all goes well with his check up.

Pleased to know everyone seems to be safe. It's difficult to know when news reports lump a whole area together. It's like saying 'Birmingham', 'London' or any county when in reality some parts have been effected worse than others.

Thanks everyone. It's hard to imagine somewhere being ripped apart by such winds etc especially when you have never seen the location for yourself, except on tv. I know Marilyn lives in an apartment in North Miami Beach and looked on a street map to get some idea of where she is.

She hasn't been home to Norfolk for years, but as often as she's asked me to visit, I just can't afford it and don't have the energy either. I am constantly fatigued mentally and physically these days.

Les rang earlier and will be adding a thread later.
