It was, of course, me who had to spend half my life trying to get his affairs in order as he lurched on from crisis to crisis.

One concept, totally alien to him, was that, just because you are offered a loan, that doesn't necessarily mean you need to accept it.Much like poor Father Ted "small, far away".

I have always been debt free,Ann. It is he who should not be allowed out on his own who couldn't keep it in his pocket!

But not your decision Sharron so accept it and enjoy the feeling of being debt free with a little surplus. Pleased for you, well done. :-) <3

I told you about OH's full and final offer being accepted to make him financially viable again. I think it was only a matter of luck that somebody went to work for PayPlan who had any understanding of the concept. They must be dealing, almost exclusively. with managing debt that has no hope of ever being cleared.

Anyway, we were also paying back Tax Credits we had never been entitled to at the lowest rate possible, £25 a week. This was because we had never thought we had been entitled to them and queried the award with the relevant department who told us that we were certainly entitled to them, left it a coupe of months and sent us an enormous bill because we were right all along and should never have had them.

Actually, they had all been put by when we began to think the award was wrong but I decided they could wait as it was their fault and could have caused us untold difficulties.

Because we could afford to repay and didn't really think they were part of OH's debt problem, we did not include them in the full and final offer.

To my delight, we had a letter last week telling us that they had been included and that that debt was also wiped out.

It is wrong really because, we didn't expect to still get them when circumstances changed (correctly, as it transpired), had never expected to receive as much and were prepared to put it all back into the system for others who do need them.
