Chicken in the UK

I only started eating supermarket chicken a few months ago, after about a 5 year break, due to it's being covered/full of germs, tasteless and not worth the bother.

Then, I bought a small one, and stuffed it with stuffing - and half a lemon - delicious.

Then, this week - this:

A 2 Sisters Food Group site in the West Midlands had changed slaughter dates to extend the shelf life of meat. They supply a lot of supermarkets.
No more supermarket chicken for me, for a time :-|

Probably best to buy from a local butcher.

True - but the nearest is miles away! :-S

If I had the room, I'd grow my own. Had no qualms about killing my own ducks.

I haven't bought a roasting chicken for a long time ....... OH doesn't like the lack of taste, so we stick to other roast meats.

I admit that I usually have at least 1 pack of thighs or chicken stir fry in the freezer that I can use for a quick meal.

Daughter and her husband just love getting a ready cooked (bbq'd) chicken from their local supermarket on a mid-week night ... they buy it hot, meal that night, left overs for a lunch and following night's meal.

We find it greasy :-(

But you don't have much choice when visiting them!
