It must have been emotional remembering Dave's love of walking, Gwyn, and houces need all the help they can get, they are, in the main, wonderfully caring places.

Thank you Gwynne, Sue, Mersey and Liz.

It seemed appropriate to take part in a walk to help the Pilgrims Hospice, because my husband enjoyed so much his walks on Romney Marsh each week leading his walking group and because the charity have been so caring and supportive of our family and many others.

Good for you, Gwyn, and your family. I hope your blister heals quickly.

I don't think I could manage anywhere near that distance. You have great determination.

Thank you kindly everyone.

No aches or pains except for a broken blister on a toe.

The event was very well organised and it was quite a sight seeing hundreds of people set off from the stadium, early evening, each group carrying a lantern ( LED flickering candle within a cut out shade )
Part way along the route was an area set aside for us to place our lit lanterns, with memorial tributes if one wished.

Many thanks to the volunteers, marshals, medical teams and many others who helped to make it a memorable evening.
Even passing motorists gave a gentle toot as they saw the group proceeding along the route, which all added to the atmosphere.

I'm glad I decided to join my children on the walk and thankful that I have the ability to complete it.

My 3 children signed up for an evening sponsored walk. They chose the 10 km route.

Organised by the local hospices group, it was called A Night To Shine and the 3 hospices each had a walk in their locality, all starting at the same time.
Most people were walking in memory of someone they've lost, as were my family.

Brother-in-law is over from New Zealand just now, staying with his Mum in Hampshire, so he decided to join them. I signed up too.

Unfortunately, my right knee started playing up during the past week and I was concerned about being a hindrance, but it was great to be able to all complete the walk together last night with no mishaps.

I didn't know Ashford had so many inclines !
