Maggie, I was thin when I was young. Even after the birth of my second child I snapped straight back to the mid-range weight for my height so well within the boundaries and I bought a soft green fitted suit for the wedding of one of OH's relatives. I went in and out in all the right places and wore stilettos so I looked taller and felt like the bees' knees.

Mistake! I was on the end of the group wedding photo and looked heavier against all of OH's family members who were, by nature, very thin. Did I feel deflated? Resigned, more like it.

Now my face is no longer what it used to be either and my hair colour has changed to grey from auburn.

I'm not sure whether I'm me any longer!

The best compensation is that my grandchildren seem not to notice and I'm still called out to play by the youngest of them..... and now I have the time to do so, although I refuse to be goalie any longer.

Swings and roundabouts folks.

Fantastic. :-D :-D :-D

Maggie, I too was a skinny Minnie for years (the school doctors told my mum I was wiry lol) but so was mum when she was young and now I am the same portly shape as mum became in later years. It's definitely genetic, so's the sweet tooth lol

I was always the very skinny one.
I used to embarrass my sister by showing a picture of her aged about 2 - and our eldest brother - aged 5 unable to get his arm around her!!
...now she's thinner than me. :-|

Having said that - all the photo's - back to my gg grandmother (granny's side) show a barrel on legs :-D
Oh - and my gggg grandfather (granddad's side) was (at the time) the heaviest man in England :-D

..so that's my excuse - it's genetic, and I take after them! :-(

It's always a shock for me to see photos, I go out thinking I look halfway decent then the photo shows this very tubby old dear who should be ashamed of getting so fat!

I am trying to cut back on chocolate etc but it's really hard.

Lol in any combination of my family I am always the short chunky one. They all, including the 15 year old tower above me. Only the ones of 4 and under are shorter :-D :-D

Even though I am 5' 8" my son and nephews range between 6' 3" and 6'5" so I look not only fat but positively vertically challenged.

Definitely the fault of the camera - and the fact I'm on the edge.
I think they may have used a 'fisheye' lense :-| :-| :-|

My Passport photo looks as if I'm standing next in line for the Hangman.

which is why I never have my picture taken, and if I have too it is always under protest.

....... or those where you think that certain members of the family look sooo much older, then the photo depicts oneself showing definite signs of the advancing years too.

Those family gathering pictures where you feel quite slim, but, as you're on the edge of the photograph, you look fat!!
