People would probably work better ( and shareholders get better returns ) if their bosses were not so thick and out of touch. In the computer world the ulimate boss is owned by Dilbert.

Absolutely.

How about:-

"They haven't aggregated their data estate into a cohesive data strategy with clear goals. (The) most critical element is not establishing a digital culture that prepares for micro-revolutions by operationalising the shared accountabilities of teams."

Loosely translated:-

"People would work better if their bosses used better technology, and their bosses would probably use better technology if Microsoft & co were easier to understand"

I am constantly amused/entertained/shocked, in equal measures, with the complexity of the developing English language & the creation of strange new words; long words, short words or abbreviated ones (including a few mildly rude bits) plus, importantly, their meaning.

Fantastic! :-D

"One thing please Rollo, in your post re USBs what does NTFS stand for?"

warning: nerdy and boring if you are not interested move on nothing to see.

Yep, New Technology File System, starter for 10 well done.

Eons ago (1992) Microsoft were trying to roll out a brand new "object oriented" operating system" which had the project name of Cairo. NTFS waas one of the major components of Cairo. For all sorts of reasons Cairo was abandoned though it became the basis of Windows 95. Some of it returned like the Walking Dead as components of Windows 8. Never waste a line of code.

Prior to NTFS Microsoft had FAT (File Allocation Table) which was extended to FAT32 and then for large USB drives EXFAT which is 64 bit.

In most ways NTFS is a gazillion miles better than FAT supporting large volumes, good security and it is fast. If it all goes pear shaped with NTFS you have a pretty good chance of recovering the data.

Large USB drives are ( for reasons of economy ) missing key features on which NTFS depends. You may or may not succeed in formatting a USB stick as NTFS but it is a poor idea as sooner or later it will cause problems. The drive oems instead released EXFAT for large USB drives and use FAT32 for smaller ones.

Formatting a USB drive is risky and should not really be neccessary. If you have to then choose a version of FAT32 / EXFAT flagged with support for USB drives. These utils are free.

NB: A lot of the USB and phone memory sold on eBay / Amazon is fake in the sense that they sell items where as much as 80% of the available space has failed quality check and may or may not work. Hence the low price.
