According to social media, and press reports, there is no second series.

There will be another drama by the same writer ( Jack Thorne) on a similar theme but, it is not a follow up on Kiri
No "closure" to be screened

That's exactly what my son thought GlasgowLass. It mirrors a lot of what happens in real life and he thought the writer was just stressing the point. My son doesn't think there will be a sequel to this unfortunately - but I hope he's wrong!

I also had the afternoon to myself yesterday.
I sat down to watch Kiri which was recorded from the previous night.

I was so disappointed at the end.
How could CH4 allow it to stop it there?

Thought it through and guess that they were making a point about racism and the justice system.
A black man was convicted of a crime he didn't commit, whilst others lied or kept quiet to cover for the white, guilty man.

I thought the acting was excellent and, despite the ending which didn't tie up all the ends, I did quite enjoy it and would watch another series. I am a bit concerned about the young son, he is not going to cope at that school is he?

But if there was another series it might be odd because the series was named after the girl who died, and Sarah Lancaster's character is no longer a social worker.

Watched the Kiri series now and I must say I enjoyed it.

I do hope there'll be a second series of it.

I have heard that there's another Happy Valley on the way.

I do like Sarah L's acting and her varied choice of roles. She manages to make every one her own somehow, different though they are from one another.

Well that was weird it must mean there will be another series.

I gave up after the first episode too!

I am looking forward to Endeavour starting on Sunday.

:-) :-)

Talk about coincidence! I have the afternoon to myself as I am not needed for the school run and OH is out until 8, although it is Thursday and it's not snowing (but cold enough for it), I shall now settle to watch it.

Coffee on, bye for now. :-D

I, too, like most things Sarah L is in.

I have never watched Ripper Street but I have enjoyed all of Peaky Blinders.

What I know of PB is that the series is largely based on the gang of thugs of the same name with some poetic licence as far as the stories are concerned, although the thugs did not dress as nattily as the principals in the series. I believe the clothing manufacturer responsible for the series' outfits has seen a boom in sales - and why not!

I like most things Sarah Lancaster is in, but one thing I really don't like is the over dramatization of things/situations, this felt overdramatized, and just plain depressing! :-(

My other bugbear is out of place historical 'facts', which is why I don't watch 'Peaky Blinders' or 'Ripper Street' - I find them both grossly overdramatized, and confusing :-S

I've recorded the lot so have yet to watch it.

I was keeping it for a snowy, lazy Saturday afternoon when I could hunker down to watch it with a pack of dark choccy ginger Florentines and perhaps a drink or two instead of coffee.

Oh, the joys of being a pensioner with few responsibilities. :-D :-D :-D

I gave up on it at the first episode

l love anything Sarah Lancaster does but I couldn't get into this one :-(

We nearly gave up after the first episode because we found it difficult to understand the accent Sarah Lancashire's character had. However we persevered and I'm glad that we did as the programme was good (I enjoy anything with Sarah Lancashire in it). It was just the ending that disappointed.

I watched the first one, and sort of 'saw' the way it was going, so gave up!

I feel the same.. My son and I watched it together and at the end we just looked at each other and both said "is that it?"

Will there be a follow up to this series or is the poor innocent father of Kiri just going to take the blame???

I like things to have a proper ending too.

watching 'Kiri' without it having a proper ending.

:-P :-P

I don't know why I bothered tbh, it was obvious from the start that it was going to be a load of old tosh. But I do like to know how things end. :-\
