My late mother always wanted me to write but I resisted the notion on the reasonable basis that there was no shortage of writers and in any case I could only do villains not heroes. Given subsequent developments maybe mum had a point. I have quite a list of technical stuff which brings in regular royalties. I get the updates ghost written.

Hoping to encourage me, taking strength from my GF (her father) being born in Japan and the little Japanese figurines I had inherted from him a few years ago she bought me a book "The Hare With the Amber Eyes" Edmund de Waal 2010.

Alack and alas I never even opened it, too busy. Now anchored down by flu ( but recovering ) I have started reading it.

Amazing. I really do recommend this work of genius to anybody who likes a literary adventure. It is a biography not fiction loosely constructed around a fascinating family tree.

Having read the free sample, it certainly has possibilities. Thanks for the recommendation.

How many of us have felt objects creating links with the past? Who else has touched this, walked here, lived there? Fascinating.

I will try and get it from the library. Anything that is connected to art and antiques, historyand family is usually of interest to me.

It does depend on writing style though. Recently I have had several books that, with the best will in the world, I couldn't wade through. Others loved them according to Amazon reviews.

I think you should consider writing Rollo. Villains are usually popular these days and it will keep you out of mischief %3B-%29 I should take my own advice lol.

Try reading the opening chapter on Amazon, Nyx.

Although I’m not a fan of ‘art’ based books, the extract doesn’t belabour that theme & flows well.
