I know a girl who came to the UK 12 years ago as a care worker with poor English. She was a qualified pastry cook. Leveraging this and a lot of chutzpah with the banks she is now partner in a food business employing hundreds. She works all hours.

Brits don't like taking risks.
Nobody is queuing up to join Liam Fox' brave new world.

last night?

I thought it raised some interesting issues regarding unemployment/ employment and migrant workers.

For those who didn't see it, in brief, the boss ( he had various businesses) had come here from Palestine,in the 1970's, ( had been a refugee during the 1967 war) and started with nothing much.

He took on 4 unemployed people who had difficulty finding or keeping a job, and they were tried out in various jobs within the business.
Of the 4, 1 was let go, 2 offered jobs, and 1 was being mentored to star her own business.

Boiling it down I think it came to developing confidence and finding a job that 'fitted well".

As a side note, I have nothing but admiration for the staff making the beds lol, I wish I could do it that efficiently :-)
