A code of conduct wouldn't have helped the abused children during past decades!

The influential always have some authority covering their backs.

A dead abuser cannot answer for their crimes. That's my main gripe.

OTH maybe it will deter those MCPs who think it's their right to treat female staff like their property. Sadly too many believe it's a privilege that has to be paid for by the staff in inappropriate ways.

Politicians have an occupational hazard in that they alone believe they are indispensable. They seem to have a pathological unwillingness to admit to making a mistake, let alone to committing a crime of any sort.

In politics you are expected to praise a colleague to the hilt & show God-like respect when questioned about their competence. However, once a damming report comes along to highlight that person's inadequacies, they are manoeuvred towards the exit.

Yes, I've read the Gormenghast trilogy - can't see how it equates to Parliament though - too much openness and truth going on in Gormenhghast.

Whereas Parliament is a load of people paid too much, cheap bars, (why are they allowed to drink at work?) cheap restaurants, who, despite their façade of 'class' apparently don't know how to behave like decent human beings!! :-|

If you have ever read any of Mervyn Peake's Gormenghast trilogy or seen it on TV then you have a fairly good idea of our parliament including all of the dysfunctional caste of characters. The whole place exerts its malevolant spell on peers and MPs whatever their original honourable intentions. Instead of wasting £4 bn on a revamp ( which will go over budget and be delivered late, if ever) a better bet would be a new site without the wraiths that people can get to. Nottingham or Leicester for instance.

Ann, as other workers have to abide by a code of conduct - you would have thought those who should be setting an example to us plebs were following it first!! :-|

what gets me is the way some of them go in front of contractors doing their job as if the contractor wasn't there. The malefactors are all men of all parties but the victims are v reluctant to do anything.
I am scared of compensation claims so have dropped all work on site. we are not the only ones to do so.
The excuses are many and well worn.
