How do they make it?

At lunchtime,in a pub,I had some salted, roast corn.

I have had it before and I do like it but what I can't understand is how they can roast this corn without it turning into pop-corn.

Pop-corn is a special variety of corn, not all corn pops.

I think it does but not as well as the type they use for pop-corn.

Because nobody would tell me, I had to look it up for myself and, the answer is that it needs to be soaked in water over night.
